The Instrumentality

The beginnings and ends of life are shrouded in myth: Let these fingerprints become artifacts of creation. Hidden within a phenomenon, spontaneously generated from soot and dye subjected to light, we find no more evidence of coincidence than fingerprints. It is impossible to predict the composition of forms in the final photograph. The phenomenon I set in motion is one of its own will; it branches of its own accord and it stops only at the edges of its containment. This tendency to self-actualize, the desire or driving force, to reach a full potential is a human trait as well; to split one's self open and find what's important is not a return to nothingness, but a state of being.
